- G'day!
-
- I myself am a beginning programmer. I have been interested in
- computers since about the age of 5, but I only really started to
- program when I got into high school. I started to program with BASIC,
- it was really easy to pick up, and I learned it in about a month. I
- made my first game with BASIC, and I was pleased with my effort.
- After BASIC, I moved on to PASCAL. What I endeavoured to do was to
- 're-write' my BASIC game code in PASCAL so it would do the same thing.
- This was a good experience for learning new habits and getting the
- feel of what certain functions do. Unfortunately, I dropped this idea
- recently, I just got BC++ 4.5 and I have been reading the manuals for
- about 3 days so far, it is not hard to pick up.
-
- If I had not had all the other experience, I would not have found it
- as easy to pick up. Personally, I would reccommend C++ DOS based
- first, then move on to OO. It is handy to know many types of langs.
-
- BTW, if anybody has any hints for me on how to get off to a good start
- with C++, I would like to hear from them. I really would.
